| Standup
for the Troops began with a little idea. |
| |
| As a
standup comic, I wanted to do a show that would show support for the
troops. My little brother, Keith, is currently stationed on the
USS Winston Churchill (he's on the far right in the picture on the home
page). My sister is stationed in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. I
have other friends and family in the military and wanted to do something
at home to show that they're appreciated. |
| |
| I
mentioned the idea to fellow comedian, Wild Bill Bauer. A
decorated Vietnam
Vet, Bauer wanted to do something himself. He mentioned the idea
to some comedy clubs and radio stations, and the idea took off! |
| |
| We
decided to do free comedy shows on April 21st for any active duty
military, reservists, veterans, their families and any other proud
Americans who want to have a good time, for a good cause.
Donations can be made at the clubs that night to benefit the USO and
the VFW's Operation Uplink. We'd also like to take out a Pro
Troops ad in one of the nation's major newspapers. |
| |
| No one
involved is out to make a profit from Standup for the Troops.
Comedians and comedy clubs are donating their time and talents for this
event. We're simply trying to yell out loud and proud that we
stand up for our troops, and we appreciate the sacrifices they're
making. Remember, even if we win the war tomorrow, some of our
troops won't be coming home for quite some time. Standup for
the Troops on April 21st! |
